Some dickhead woman whispering down the phone in my office. Do these thick cunts not understand the meaning of silence? There's always one

Eddie! I had to look it up on Twitter. Impressive display of respect from all involved.

My thoughts today were above all with my old school mate, Tom Curry who didn't come back from Afghanistan. RIP Tom.

Re: Festival of Remembrance
A close relative of mine works in a top London 5* hotel, last week he walked into the head housekeepers room to request something be done, when he noticed a box of poppies had been emptied in the waste bin. He asked what they were doing there and the Nigerian women head housekeeper said that no one wants them, then the other staff a Polish young man said the owner (Israeli) doesn't want them either and it is too late now anyway. He said it is not too late as it is not the 11th, there is another week? She said I will help you collect them out of the basket if they are sentimental to you and helped remove them from the bin. He left disgusted.

I hope all these Johnny foreigners observed the two minute silence, sadly that is not my experience. They do realise they would not be able to enjoy the freedom of this land if it were not for those that gave their lives, it is just that they have no respect for our country, history and traditions, however they still wish to eat from our table.

Unfortunately in our office, one chap just kept on typing during the silence.

There seems to be this thing with Mr Corbyn and others (I may be wrong) that certain things they don't have to do if they don't want to and that's fair enough. But what gets me is they have to make a show of not doing it. Does that make sense?

Surely the digs have been at people not wearing poppies?

Re: Festival of Remembrance
It's been very fashionable this year to have a dig at the poppy.

Re: Festival of Remembrance
My mothers father and my brother-in-law were lost whilst in the forces, I wear a poppy for a week to show remembrance, only in social life though.

i just wish they had left it for remembrance rather than turning into cheerleading for the deaths of even more young people!

Speaking about the poppy nazis.... I only found out today that the leaf should be facing at 11am...... somone moaning that the Daily Mail site is wrong.

It's always a time I remember 3 mates I served with.

Ben Gamble - raging alcoholic from Gloucester, but a really nice lad. Died in training back in 2000.

Baz Keen - another one who liked his drink, but an inspiring senior who knew his job so so well. Died in 2007.

https://www.gov.uk/government/fatalities/sergeant-barry-keen-of-14-signal-regiment-killed-in-afghanistan

Lastly, Joe Clayton - died after he left the army from complications with diabetes, was discharged because of this.

He was the reason I joint the Corps and trade that I did. Went army cadets with him, same school and was my best friend through my younger years.

All good people and missed. However, I remember them fondly and had some good moments that raise a smile when I do think about it.
